IN WITH THE NEW: Clams Casino

Clams Casino makes high-quality hip hop: pleasant, space-filling instrumental music, consisting of static shoegazer sounds and dry beats. This young producer does not look for samples in the record boxes like DJ Shadow. He does it via the road he knows best: the world wide web. Clams Casino simply enters words like 'blue' or 'cold' into the Limewire search box and starts tampering with the first ten songs that pop up. "I had no idea who the artists were or anything." He has already sampled tracks of Adele, Janelle Monae, Björk and Imogen Heap. In the past he has offered his services to hip-hop hype du jour Lil B (below check 'Motivation', produced by Clams Casino). In June he will try to knock us out with 'Rainforest ep', released by the Tri Angle label, which has delighted us before with acts such as oOoOO, How to Dress Well and Balam Acab.
